Armed Forces Day

As part of an annual tradition, the city of Exeter will be marking Armed Forces Day with a large number of service military, associations and cadets marching through the city.

The parade will take place on 20th June where the Armed Forces Parade will be stepping off at 11am from Sidwell Street before making their way to the High Street. There will be a traditional salute at Guildhall and then onto the Cathedral where the parade will form up for a quick inspection by the Lord Mayor and Inspecting Party.

The Exeter Brewery will once again be donating beverages to those taking part in the Parade.  Founded in 2007 by Alan Collyer, the Exeter Brewery has grown from a small independent brewer into one of Exeter’s best-known local businesses, producing award-winning ales while maintaining a strong commitment to the community. Originally rooted in Exminster Marshes before relocating to its Cowley Bridge Road site in 2013, the brewery has built a reputation not only for quality beers such as Avocet® and Ferryman®, but also for its long-standing support of local charities, military organisations and civic events. For well over a decade, Exeter Brewery has been a valued supporter of Exeter’s Armed Forces Day celebrations, helping to honour serving personnel, veterans and their families, reflecting the brewery’s enduring commitment to the city’s Armed Forces community and its wider aim of being “Exeter’s brewery” in every sense.

The Parade will be led by the Barnstaple Youth Band who will also perform after the parade has been formally dismissed by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Gemma Rolstone, followed by a performance from The Salamanca Band of the Rifles on the Cathedral Green.
